Multi-site Multiplication: A True Story

On Wednesday, I enjoyed a conversation with my friend Keith Boyer. You can actually listen to our conversation by clicking here.

Podcast Image SmallHere’s the readers digest of the story. 5 years ago, Keith was pastoring a very healthy “conventional” church in Freeport, Illinois. Typical weekend attendance averaged 1500 in four services in a town of 25,000. They were running out of space. They owned property and were about ready to “pull the trigger” on the next phase by entering into a building program to increase the size of the “storehouse.” However, as Keith and his elders sought the Lord, they felt directed toward the idea of keeping the church “local.” Instead of building a bigger building and asking people from far and wide to drive to them, they wondered what would happen if they took the church to where the people lived. Today, Crossroads Community Church is “one church with multiple locations” (currently on five campuses in three states) determined to make the church local again. Over 2300 people are connected with Christ and one another through the dispersed campuses and they are poised for another phase of expansion through a very unique and cost effective model of multi-site. Take a few minutes to listen to this great story loaded with valuable insights that will be a blessing to any leader contemplating multiplication through multi-site.

Welcome to the new home for the Church Multiplication Network

Church Multiplication Network signWe’ve moved! I thought this would be a great opportunity to give you a quick snapshot of our Church MultiplicationThe Hall Network team members along with a visual picture of our workplace. Right now we’re a lean, mean, fighting machine of four dedicated folks who are ready to do everything in our power to help you co-labor with Christ as He builds His Church!

The first pictures are of the entrance to our new space. We’re at the south end of the 4th floor of Meeting Roomthe main building in the National Office. The picture to the left is our modest sign indicating you are entering the Church Multiplication Network offices. On the right is the loonng narrow hallway that leads back to where our team resides. The next picture (on the left) is our little conference table where all of our “high level” strategic planning sessions take place.Debbie Armstrong

If you keep walking straight down the hall you will run right into Debbie Armstrong’s office. Yes, she is the one and only Debbie Armstrong, known and loved by all who have ever attended a BootCamp. Debbie has been to more BootCamps than any other human being! She makes sure they run smoothly from beginning to end. She also takes care of hundreds of other logistical details for events that the CMN puts on. By the way, our next BootCamp is in Florida in just a few weeks. This Friday is the deadline to register!

Charity KinneyIf you hang a left before you get to Debbie’s office you’ll run smack dab into Charity’s space. Charity Kinney is a missionary kid who speaks three languages fluently and keeps my calendar and travel schedule from coming unglued! Her voice is most commonly the first voice you will hear when you call into the Church Multiplication Network. She always works hard to help our church planters and friends of church planters access all the resources we have to offer. She is a great asset to the CMN team and stands ready to answer your questions about all of the “helps” available to those who are planting a church.Brad Causey

On the other side of the wall from Charity is the cozy cubbyhole where Brad Causey has set up his office. We affectionately call his space the “fortress of solitude” because it’s the only space in our area that lacks a view of the outside world. If it weren’t for all the people calling in to ask about Matching Funds, we might not even know Brad was in the office. But if you are looking for start up funds, Brad is the man you want to talk to! He’s our Matching Funds specialist and our chief communications officer. Like everyone else on the team, he’s not happy until he’s done everything possible to connect you with any support we have available.

Steve PikeFinally, way back behind everyone else is my space. I’ve got great views of the spectacular Springfield skyline! You can see my map in the picture…my map has little markers that indicate every new AG church plant in the US. I’m praying that one day the map will be covered with thousands of vigorous new churches that are committed to building bridges of God’s love and truth to people everywhere.

Our little team is just getting started. Over the next 18 months, we plan to aggressively add on to the team so we can do more every day to support those who answer the call to start a new church. We look forward to serving you. Don’t hesitate to give us a call at 1.800.447.0427. Our best days are yet to come!
