Remember waking up on Christmas morning as a kid and running to see what was under the tree.  The excitement and eagerness to tear open as fast as you possibly can the presents to see what Santa brought you?   That was us today as we began to unwrap the God-sized opportunity before us.

The favorite gift of the day had to be the people who have signed up to follow along with what’s going on in the meeting on our Facebook page or Twitter.  Immediately we had some great interaction from a church planter’s wife, Angie Hamp, who is planting a church with her husband in Parker, CO.  Thanks Angie!  We immediately made that part of our discussion and continued to do so throughout the day.  We’ve already got action items to support church planters wives.

Our first present we unwrapped was our DiSC assessment profiles.   How we interact as a new team is vital.  Steve Pike and Joel Hunter are both high “D’s” and Dave Auterson, Dave McNaughton and I are all high “I’s”.  What that tells us is we have a group of guys who like to run at a fast pace, want to get things done and have fun while we do it.  It also means that Ann Roth (our facilitator for the meeting) has her hands very full to keep us on task in order to accomplish what we need over the next two days.

We then began unwrapping our 2009 SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Results oriented and Time framed) goals.  Steve was first up with the overall goals for CMN.  As a team we analyzed, critiqued and honed the goals so that we all could agree that is what we want to achieve for 2009.

Tomorrow, we will unwrap each of our respective areas and make sure our goals line up with the meta-goals and come away with our first 90 day action plans.

We want more Angie’s to join the conversation as we look forward to 2009.  Our end of day question to you is - Who are the church planting leaders that have inspired you? Let us know on our Facebook page.

Please keep us in your prayers as you go through your day.
